My experience in this class had been very positive. I came in on the first day having limited knowledge of a camera and no knowledge of Photoshop. I decided to take photos of my cat for photo 1, and although the final product was good, I knew I could improve. Now, looking at my photo 7 in comparison to photo 1, I can see the change. I not only improved in photo taking skills, but I also improved in my editing skills, and I think that is prevalent when looking at my photo 7. I got more confident in my editing skills as well because at first, I was afraid to edit my photos, but now I realize editing enhances the picture. I also think I got better at portraying more emotion in my pictures because I think my photo 7 is more striking than photo 1. I think this class really helped my to realize that the best pictures evoke emotions, and I think I improved with this skill over time. My worst photo: During my still life photoshoot, I found it really hard to focus the camera because I wanted such a small aperture, so this is one of the photos that didn't turn out so well. My best photo: I liked this photo the most because I really used my photography knowledge and it paid off. I used the rule of thirds and I used bright colors in the photo that contrasted well. I also spent the most time on the portrait photos because I had a 2 hour photoshoot with my friends. I'm not going to lie, I was a little intimidated by photoshop at first. It seemed very complicated because there were so many buttons. It also seemed very easy to mess up. With the first photoshop assignment, the car, I struggled a little to make the car look perfect and I struggled with using the clone stamp tool. Yet, as Photoshop became progressively harder, I found myself enjoying it more. My favorite photoshops throughout the year were the school context and the multiple me. I think I enjoyed these so much because they required attention to detail, which is what I am good at. I think my Photoshop skills have improved immensely throughout the year. I now even want to download Photoshop on my computer so I can continue experimenting with it. The left is my edited photo and the right is the model that we had to try and make it look like. As you can see, the coloring of my car is a little off, and I really struggle with that the second week of photoshop. The white strip behind the car is also a little cut off compared to the model.
Overall, I really enjoyed this class. I was able to learn a lot about photoshop and its different functions. These skills could help me in the future if I take another class or go into a job that requires experience in the application. I also learned a lot about the function of the camera. Before this class, I had no idea about aperture and shutter speed on a camera, but now I know what they are and how to use them to get a better picture. I am also more experienced in manual mode. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who would like to know how to use a camera and how to edit a photo.

This week for our photoshop assignment, we were asked to create visual puns with stock images and google photos. We also had to create a visual dictionary for 2 words, preferably adjectives. This week's assignment tested all of our knowledge on Photoshop that we have learned throughout the trimester. What I learned:
I learned that I have improved a lot in my photoshop skills over the past couple months. One thing I struggles with in this assignment was trying to find photos that accurately represented the words. It also took me awhile to decide on a pun that I could create in Photoshop. This week, I decided to take black and white pictures. These pictures were really unique because I found myself looking for subjects that would show good contrast. I think turning the photo of my mom into black and white really captured the emotion on her face and made the picture have a impactful feeling. I also took pictures of my cat and other little objects that had good contrast. Edits: I decided to crop a little of the right side of the photo out because I think that made the subject stand out more. I also turned the photo black and white, and adjusted some of the reds, greens, and yellows under that filter in Photoshop. Aperture: f/5.0 Shutter speed: 1/200 ISO: 200 What I learned: During this last photo assignment, I leaned that it is important to arrange the subjects in a certain way to get the shot you are looking for. I also learned that it is important to look for contrast in your subjects to convey the emotion of the subject, like I did in the picture with my mom. I am really glad I took this class because I think my photo skills improved a lot!
